I am thinking that we will eventually need to break up configure/os into subdirectories so that the files are easier to find. We would end up with the os specific configuration files in subdirectories like configure/os/linux, configure/os/freebsd, configure/os/win32, etc.
I agree, I was thinking the exact same thing myself earlier today. The problem is where to put files that deal with combinations of two architectures - configuring vxWorks builds on a solaris host versus a linux or windows host.
This would not be a 3.14.9 issue though, and possibly not a 3.14.x issue though - since configure is getting a bit stale in the main trunk I think that's probably worth tackling for the 3.15 series. Any ideas on how to manage this would certainly be worth discussing, but preferably not until after we've shipped the final R3.14.9.
