Can you show what's happening when you run the command from the usage message, i.e.

pvput double01 {"value":1.234}

The "JSON support is present" line in "-h" output is printed unconditionally.

Yes, now that Base >=3.15 is required I removed the conditional.

What am I doing wrong trying to use it, then?!
