Introduction to Channel Access Clients

This session will present the more important parts of the Channel Access Application Programming Interface [API] and will give guidelines as to the basic procedures and best practices for programming a Channel Access client. Examples of how to write a basic caGet routine with and without callbacks will be presented. The examples will be in C, but the emphasis will be on the API, not the language. This session should provide you with the knowledge to start writing your own clients in C or C++, if you are already familiar with the language, and the background to understand what is behind the programming interfaces for other languages.
