I totally agree with Jeff on this, It can be very confusing to anyone not
completely aware of where to find everything, and also quite hard to configure
for each site. Here at LBL we just compile in the defaults then override
everything with a resource.def file for the IOC and setenv's for Unix.
This is easier for most of the users to deal with.
