Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
With the disclaimer - as I recall:
The waveform version of the card was a very special application that needed
a homemade piece of hardware to generate the gating signals - therefore it
looks for the xy085 card which is a xycom prototyping card. This mode should
no longer be supported.
The other two modes were scanned and latched. In the first case the board was
set up to free scan the I/O with the EPICS database reading the most recent
value whenever the board was scanned. In the latched case, an external trigger
is used to gate in the analog signals and initiate the A/D conversion. As we
had external timing boards with programmable delays, we did not take advantage
of the internal delays on the board, we required a much higher resolution on the
delay as well.
If you really want me to, I will dig up the manual and read about the 0x95a5.
My inclination is to say - do it as seems best. I can look into this further
when I have a manual in my possession again.
Except for the initialization, this board is very straight forward. In your new driver,
will you support the array mode for each channel or some set number of channels? As
I recall, several folks are using thsi board to take slower arrays. In the initial
implementation of this, I only support one channel. It would be better if the general
driver supported the maximum rate for reading all of the channels.
Have fun,
Bob
