The link to the APS Hardware Catalog was only meant for the local APS Beamline Controls mailing list. But since it is out on tech-talk now I need to clarify it's purpose.
The APS Hardware Catalog is meant to be a reference source for APS EPICS beamline developers. It reflects the hardware that the APS Controls groups (ASD/Controls & AOD/BCDA) fully support and would recommend on a APS EPICS beamline.
The APS Hardware Catalog is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all EPICS supported hardware. Andrew's IOC Support Modules page serves that purpose well. http://www.aps.anl.gov/epics/modules/index.php
Pete,
I linked to the top of our hardware page because John wrote a introduction to the Hardware Catalog there. My intent was that everyone would be directed to the Hardware Catalog page...

Please use the 'Beamline Interest' search field to find the currently recommended beamline hardware. This database is a work-in-progress.
Thanks.
Joe

Anybody care to weigh in on item [2] below? (IP Octal 485 does not work with EPICS)

The follwing page contains a quick intro and access to a beamline centric web interface to the APS Hardware Catalog. Please try it out. Feedback is appreciated.

Joe:
I am very happy to see this update. Good to have many of the manuals available.

[2] IP octal 485 ($345) Do not recommend that anyone purchase this module. You might check with Mohan to verify this but to my knowledge (last checked last summer) no one has ever gotten the IP octal 485 to work with EPICS. Is anyone _using_ this now? If I'm wrong, please describe how to get this to work. I've got about a dozen of these and they have not been useful.
