Hello EPICS Community,
First of all, my apologies for using tech-talk for a not-completely EPICS related question.
Mariana Varotto and I of the Advanced Photon Source ANL Controls Group are heading up a project to develop a standard for the administration of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) applications. The motivation for this is to provide a relatively easy and effective means for implementing changes to PLC software, tracking changes, and enabling the rebuild of applications from an archive of file versions.
I would appreciate hearing from those of you who have any experience (good or bad) with using an automated software versioning tool for managing PLC applications that typically include different file types. Information on how to manage LabVIEW application files is welcome too. We are considering both commercial and freeware software version control software.
Thanks for your time,
Debby
