The documentation produced by Cosylab was done specifically to support the production of a Java native channel access client. This client is currently in operation. This is a testament to its success for the scope of work. There is work needed to provide a complete specification. The behavoir of the client and the server internals would be useful. Versions of the protocol would also be useful. I think that this is a good start. I hope we have the resources and interest to continue. EPICS is dependent on the channel access protocol. A complete document that would divulge adequate information to write a client and server that would work interoperably, would be of immeasurable benefit. Bob
