Hi Patrick,we use a similar technique in the VME world when there's need to pass parameters to drivers, that could be a base address set by h/w jumpers.
Look in the application developers guide for epicsExportRegistrar, iocshFuncDef, iocshArg and the like - that will allow your st.cmd invoke a C routine with user set params from your script.
