Subject: | Looking for EPICS developers in High-Energy Physics (HEP) or Nuclear Physics (NP) |

It is the time of the year where I stop EPICS programming and fire up MS office for grant writing.
But to my surprise, this year, the Basic Energy Science (BES) office at the DOE, does not advertize any opportunity for software grant. Since EPICS is used by all type of accelerators, there no need to apply with the BES (which normally support x-ray science and therefore light sources). Indeed given that EPICS is used at accelerators that focus on high-energy or nuclear physics, I can simply redirect my letters of intent. I contacted the program managers at the HEP and NP DOE offices. They ask me to confirm that as far as EPICS-based control system the needs at those accelerators is the same as those at light sources. In sort, I need to talk to EPICS developers who work on accelerators which focus on HEP or NP. Better yet, I would want to meet such developers. I am in Palo Alto, CA (SF bay area), the closest HEP lab is FACET at SLAC... Please let me know if you are or know such EPICS developers. Regards, -- Emmanuel |
