Hi John,We use ADAM-6017 modules here, they are similar to the ADAM-4017 only connect via ethernet instead of serial. We use the ModBUS EPICS package and adding I/O modules is very straight forward:
http://cars9.uchicago.edu/software/epics/modbusDoc.htmlI think they support both serial and ethernet, so my guess is that the 4017 module should be easy to interface with EPICS.
We find the ethernet more convenient to serial, perhaps you could investigate this option too.
