What software do you currently use to read the data from the RS-485 devices on Windows? Is it software you wrote yourself or is it a commercial program? Do you know what protocols your devices use?

Hi, Mark
I am a beginner and I am sorry that my question is not clear.
This is the answer to your questions.

Q: What is the data? A few scalar values, large arrays, etc.?
A: A few scalar values. gamma and neutron radiation, Temperautre, humidity, etc.
Q: What do you mean by "EPICS is currently installed on Linux PCs"? Do you mean that you can run EPICS clients on Linux, or are you running EPICS IOCs on Linux?
A: I mean that I can run EPICS clients on Linux. I have not made EPICS IOCs yet.
Q: What do you mean by "import data from windows PC to linux PC using EPICS"? Do you mean import to an EPICS client on Linux, or to an EPICS IOC?
A: I mean that I want to create data as EPICS PVs on Windows. Then, I want to get the data Linux clients.

How do I create Windows IOCs?
Thanks in advance

Hi SeongBin,
I think the answer to the question depends on what you mean the by the following:
- What is the data? A few scalar values, large arrays, etc.?
- What do you mean by "EPICS is currently installed on Linux PCs"? Do you mean that you can run EPICS clients on Linux, or are you running EPICS IOCs on Linux?
- What do you mean by "import data from windows PC to linux PC using EPICS"? Do you mean import to an EPICS client on Linux, or to an EPICS IOC?
You can create an IOC on Windows that will publish the data as EPICS PVs. You can then get that data into either the Linux IOCs or Linux clients via EPICS Channel Access. We do this with lots of Windows IOCs.
Mark

Subject: Question about importing data from a Windows PC to a Linux PC
Hi,
I am an EPICS beginner.
I have a question in the following situation.
__________________________________________________________________
___________ _______________ ___________
| Linux PC | | Windows PC | USB to RS485 | Device |
| | <-->| | <-----------> | |
|___________| |_______________| converter |__________|
__________________________________________________________________
The monitoring program is running on the windows PC and is reading the value from the device.
I want to import data from windows PC to linux PC using EPICS.
EPICS is currently installed on Linux PCs and Windows PCs are not installed.
How can I solve this problem?
Thanks in advance,
SeongBin Kim
