There were some major changes made to the ownership rules for the client applications in pvAccess 6.0 (EPICS 7.0), and the symptoms you describe seem to match my recollection of the effects of not making appropriate changes related to that. This page in the pvAccess documentation explained that, hopefully it will make sense.
