Yes; one option is to use the retiredPVTemplate; there's some documentation in the user guide. Also, I think, Rebecca Williams (thanks!) recently added support for "retrieval for retired PV without template"; this is in the main branch but has not been released
yet. If you want, you can try that out as it's quite convenient.
Re: If we delete this data (which has been backed up in our backup system) is it possible to restore it if someone wants to access it later?
Yes; pretty much the same answer as above. Restore it into its original location and then use the retiredPVTemplate options.
