A bit of a hack, but might be quick and easy — I’m not sure if this old code still works, but many years ago I threw together a quick proof-of-principle driver to monitor the switches on a USB mouse. You could perhaps wire an opto-isolator across a mouse button to get your TTL signal into the device. https://epics.anl.gov/tech-talk/2011/msg01325.php
