CASW (Channel Access Server Watcher) is an application included with EPICS base that monitors beacon anomalies and prints a line with a timestamp whenever it sees one. The anomalies are listed in the order they happen; anomalies from different causes are mixed together; and the time intervals between anomalies are not readily apparent. This can make it hard to determine the cause of a particular sequence of anomalies.
ParseCASW is an application that converts the CASW output to individual events, such as an IOC coming up. It prints the events rather than the anomalies. It can be used to parse output from CASW, or CASW can be piped into ParseCASW to determine the events as they happen.
