The $23K license fee has been very difficult for many members of the collaboration.
We are going to port to some other real-time operating system as an alternative. We
will begin this consideration in the very near future. The pricing policy seems to
have very little flexibility in it for small installations. It is my understanding that
the node cost are much lower than most RTOS's, so vxWorks is better for large
installations. We will examine various aspects:

functionality
