Haven't heard of any EPICS-specific applications but at ICALEPCS'95
there was a poster by S. Kate Feng-Berman et.al of BNL on a
C31 based system which mentioned two reasons _not_ to use SPOX:
"1) the O.S. takes 43K 32-bit words, and 2) its maximum interrupt rate
is 10KHZ. The overhead is due to its attempt to be universal." They
ended up writing their own real-time kernel using Assembly for the
lower layers and C for the upper layers.
