Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
I was asked to provide an include and macro substitution capability for
access security files. What I did was create a general purpose macro
substitution and include tool which uses the macLib created by William
Lupton.
At APS/ASD our IOC Application Engineers make great use of subtool (an
epics base tool) to create database files. Subtool reads two files; a
template file and a substitution file. One way of using msi, the new
tool, is to read the same files and produce the same result. Thus msi
can be a replacement for subtool with the ability to also use include
files.
The documentation for msi is available via the APS Epics Documentation
Page. The actual URL is:
http://www.aps.anl.gov/asd/controls/epics/EpicsDocumentation/ExtensionsManuals/msi/msi.html
Bakul Banerjee will place msi in the EPICS password protected software
distribution area. It is a normal epics extension. Bakul will also make
a solaris built executable available without password protection.
