It appears that my initial information from Ken was incorrect, and that after a second look in the current source code Ken tells me that MEDM *does* poll the CA client library every 100 mS. Sorry about the confusion. While I am wasting bandwidth I should also mention that there was one problem related to CA connection management that has recently been fixed. Last fall it was discovered that there was a bug in 3.13 beta 11 where CA would not always promptly discover that its connection to an IOC was stale (and therefore immediately attempt to reconnect) if this IOC rebooted very quickly. Since Bill Cruise at CFHT is using SPARC processors which might be faster than mv167s this might be a potential source of problems there.
