Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
Hello Kay, everyone,
First the questions:
1. What is the latest version of EPICS base against which
anyone has built a working sparc-solaris Channel Archiver?
2. Has anyone built a working Channel Archiver with Sun workshop?
Here's why I'm asking:
I'm working on a sparc-solaris host. I have built EPICS base R3.14.1
using Sun workshop 6.1 (C++ 5.2).
I started to build the Channel Archiver, but the Tools compilation
failed because it was looking for osiTime.h. So I'm up against the
osi-to-epics prefix change of R3.14.
This leads to my first question. At this point, I'm wondering whether
I'll have the Channel Archiver running sooner if I build it against an
R3.13.x instead of trying to patch the Tools code. Any guidance?
The Channel Archiver documentation doesn't mention Sun workshop as a
successful build environment, hence my second question. I'm asking
because we have an easier time building EPICS base with Sun workshop
tools than our GNU tools. However, my goal here is to get a Channel
Archiver working on Solaris. So if I must build base and Channel
Archiver the same way, I need to know now whether I must first build
base using GNU.
Thanks in advance,
Susanna
