Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
Hello John,
I have recently been attempting to run EDM under Red Hat Linux 8.0. When I
attempt to put a widget on my screen, the panel from which I input data for
the widget comes up with the x co-ordinate field blank, and a series of
error messages are put out on the window from which I ran edm, saying
Name:
Class: XmTextField
Character '\67' not supported in font. Discarded.
The y co-ordinate, width and height fields are displayed correctly
This is not serious, but if I configure the widget and close the
configuration panel, if I then try to edit it again, the panel comes up with
more error messages of a similar nature and loses the contents of all the PV
fields so I have to re-enter those as well.
If I revert to my old Red Hat Linux 7.3 machine the problem goes away. A
certain amount of investigation suggests that a default font is being picked
up from somewhere that is different between the two systems, but I have
copied the fonts config file from the RH 7.3 machine to the RH 8, and run
xlsfonts on both machines - the results are identical. Before I investigate
further, have you any suggestions, or do you know of anyone else who has run
EDM on RH 8.0?
Thanks
Steve
