Dear all,

Could somebody explain about the restriction of  naming channels from the history of EPICS developing? I learned from APS web site, the total length of channel name should be less than 28 characters. Do EPICS base & CA library support different length of channel names? Is there any modification in EPICS new versions for the limits?
Is there any limit in the character length between two delimiters(:) among channel name?
Any information is welcome.

Regards,

Lifang
