Bit 11 of the MSTA field of the motor record is a MOVING state, which is
true when the motor has a non-zero velocity. Does anybody know if
this bit actually works? I'm currently using version 4.6 of the motor
record to drive a stepper motor with an encoder, and this field always
remains false. Having looked at the code (version 4.6 and version 4.8)
it doesn't appear to get set anywhere.
I'm not the expert on this (Ron Sluiter's out this week) but I believe
this is device dependent, and that the OMS VME58, at least, does not
provide this information as a status bit. OMS controllers do have a
command ("RV") that returns the current motor speed, so it would seem
possible for the driver to set the MOVING bit when it polls for other
status info, but currently it does not do this. I haven't looked at
any other drivers.
