JoiMint already has a rich widget set.
It's easy to add another widgets.
There's a converter from dm2k to JoiMint .JOI files. (XML)
I am in the process with Mark Plesko to get the current version running 
with CAJ.
JoiMint will also need a replacement for the strip and archiving 
display. I hope to make use of the new version of the archive viewer 
which is also beeing improved at Cosylab.

What's the background of your question?
