Sorry about this taking so long. I wanted to clean things up and then test it on a clean system. I just built it here at home of Fedora Core 2. It should work on linuxes released recently. Older versions may still work but I can't vouch for them. Note that this is not quite the same thing as the update that you can find on the WRS support site. I have removed some files not needed and patched the build system to avoid building things that you dont need in a cross-compiler for vxWorks. I have added a handy build script (actually a Makefile) that will take care of the building details for you. Get http://ics-web1.sns.ornl.gov/share/crossGCC/cross-gcc-2.9.6-041123Patch.tar.gz . Please ignore any likely targets that you may encounter browsing to the file as we may have older versions sitting there needing to be cleaned up. Expand the file from your HOME directory. This will put everything in $HOME/gnu-gcc/. Set up $WIND_BASE. You will need to provide all of the files in $WIND_BASE/target/h from a Tornado CD. Read the instructions in gnu-gcc/gnu.ppc.README. Note: The patch that I call "Andy Foster's motor record patch" has been removed. After a lengthy discussion here on tech-talk and with WRS the consensus is that the error that the un-patched compiler is reporting with the motor record is correct behavior. I believe that the NEXT release of base after 3.14.7 will put this to rest. In the meantime I can supply details if you need them. If you encounter any problems following my instructions or in getting things to build or run then let me know. If I can get listings of the associayed errors with questions it will help. I have been gathering cross compiler complaints for a web page to put on our controls site. If you are successful in using the compiler let me know that too. It helps on my annual review.
