Hello All,

Diamond Synchrotron Light Source, http://www.diamond.ac.uk/ , the largest scientific facility to be built in the UK for nearly thirty years, has exciting opportunities for software and software systems engineers to participate in cutting edge research, and software development using EPICS.

These roles will be based in the Control Systems Group which has responsibilities for accelerator and beamline control systems on the Diamond facility. Control systems are realised using EPICS, with VME and VxWorks together with embedded Linux systems for the hardware interface layer and Linux workstations for all development and operational systems.

The following positions are available:

SOFTWARE SYSTEMS ENGINEER PHOTON BEAMLINES (X2) Ref. DIA0128

These positions will work closely with a team of scientists and engineers to specify and develop software to deliver ultra stable x-ray beams from the Diamond Storage Ring to the experimental samples.

SOFTWARE ENGINEEREPICS TOOLKIT CORE DEVELOPMENT Ref. DIA0136

This position will involve working with scientists and engineers within the EPICS collaboration on the overall design and specification for future versions of the EPICS toolkit to support the general needs to the EPICS collaboration and the specific requirements of Diamond.

For all positions candidates will need to demonstrate an excellent understanding of computing technology applied to realtime and distributed control applications and programming skills in C. They should have a good honours degree in physics, electronic engineering or computer science.

Diamond can offer the successful candidates comprehensive benefits, a competitive salary (dependant upon qualifications and relevant experience), and a relocation package where applicable.

Details of both positions can be found at http://www.diamond.ac.uk/Activity/Jobs;SECTION=4796;

Regards.

Mark Heron
