Is there any interest in adding such a function to $EPICS/base/src/RTEMS/base/rtems_netconfig.c or some other similar file for others to use in the future? I don't think it's worth osi-fying it.
How about folding it back into the RTEMS distribution? It sounds like it's useful for more than just EPICS.
