True, and EPICS already has the configure/os/xxxx files ('EPICS_HOST_ARCH=darwin-fat') for this. It does double the compile time and object module sizes, though. I'm not sure that machines are fast enough and disks big enough for this to no longer be a problem. I guess the easiest approach is to have the EpicsHostArch shell and perl scripts return darwin-fat. If you want faster builds and smaller files you would manually set EPICS_HOST_ARCH to darwin-ppc or darwin-x86 as appropriate.
