Dear All,
We are trying to install a PC104-GPIB card onto our PC104 Linux computer (EPICS IOC). We are using a 2.6.12 kernel and 3.2.07 version of the linux-gpib software.
I compiled the linux-gpib software using the gcc compiler that comes with the kernel. I cannot get modprobe to load the device driver so I have to use "insmod" to load all the dependent modules manually. I locate the dependent files using the informations from the modules.dep file. Then I can get the device to appear in the /dev directory.
I used the "ibtest" program provided by the driver package to test the board. I can use FindLstn to find the device. I can send a device clear command to it, but I cannot get the device to listen to device specific command. For example I have an HP34401 multimeter. I can set it to remote or local mode using the "d" and "m" command provided by "ibtest", but when I send the command "READ?" through the bus I get no response from the instrument. I look at the message on the screen. It said "no listener" after I send in the "READ?" command. It gets me a little bit confuse since I can use FindLstn to locate the device.
I tried to change the original "ibwrt" to "Send" function to send the command string but it still does not help. Can somebody give me some pointers. Thanks a lot for your help?
John Lee
