Device support exists in the EPICS community for both OPC and SNMP - 
we're just starting to deploy an IOC that monitors all our network 
equipment via devSNMP support.  Here at APS the person responsible is 
Janet Anderson <jba@aps.anl.gov> but I believe we got the original code 
from SNS (I'm not sure if we've contributed our changes back to them yet 
though).  I know that other sites such as DESY are also using devSNMP.

My understanding of the OPC support (from BESSY I think) is that it 
requires a Windows server to be running, but that might have changed 
since I heard about it.
