The releases  alh1_2_23 and medm3_1_2_1  have R3.14 Makefiles and use 
definitions from files in
the extensions/configure directory.    You probably need to correct the 
X11 and MOTIF definitions
in the extensions/configure/os/CONFIG_SITE.linux-x86.linux-x86 file on 
the machine giving error
messages.

The older medm releases  medm3_0_3Beta2 and medm3_0_3 have R3.13 type 
Makefiles and use the
X11 and MOTIF definitions from the extensions/config directory.
