Hi Ralph,

we can give you the details for sure.
Igor will contact you on Monday.

The main reason for running the archiver on Solaris is the fact that there's no better way to run a cluster then on Solaris.
The archiver is a key component for our control system. So we run the archiver on the cluster. It runs on the active node and there are scripts which start/ stop the archivers in case of a cluster failover. -> not as a cluster resource!
Furthermore we are archiving into a RAID-5 array which itself is host based mirrored to a second RAID.
This works fine with Sun equipment.
I would be harder for sure to get the same kind of reliability on a Linux system
(expecting comments from our Linux gurus...)

Cheers
Matthias

Hello Matthias,

I heard from others they had to give up running the ChannelArchiver2 on Solaris, because getting the required libraries and tools running on Solaris was close to impossible, and just getting a Linux box to run the archiver on was a lot easier and less expensive.

So - if yours works fine, it would be great to have the set of version numbers for the required parts ... :-)

Thanks a *lot*,
Ralph

Hi Ralph,

yes we're running the channel archiver on our Solaris cluster.
Do you have any specific question?

Otherwise: It works fine for us ;-)) (this might not be the information you're looking for...)

Is anybody using the ChannelArchiver on Solaris? Can you share your experiences?
