Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
Folks,
I have fixed this problem, with help from the netcdfgroup mailing list.
It required some definitions to use 64-bit off_t and lseek, rather than
32-bit.
The updated code is in Subversion:
https://subversion.xor.aps.anl.gov/synApps/areaDetector/trunk/
and areaDetector can now write netCDF files of any size on win32-x86 and
windows-x64.

Subject: Problem with areaDetector netCDF files >2GB on win32-x86
Folks,
Has anyone tried writing netCDF files with sizes >2GB in areaDetector
with the win32-x86 architecture?
It is crashing with an assert error for me:
Assertion failed: pxp->bf_offset <= offset && offset < pxp->bf_offset +
(off_t) pxp->bf_extent, file ..\posixio.c, line 325
It works fine on linux-x86 and cygwin-x86, where I have written 5GB
files with no problems. It is the same source code for netCDF on all
platforms, the source code is included in areaDetector.
I know netCDF can do this on Windows, because IDL's netCDF writer
produces files >4GB with no problems.
It must be some #define or compiler flag I am getting wrong, but I
wonder if anyone else has run into this an solved it?
Thanks,
Mark
