Yeah, the network stack in RTEMS is pretty big.  That’s because I used the BSD Unix network stack as a starting point to port to RTEMS.   It would be really good if someone did the port of LWIP to RTEMS.  I think that would be a much better fit for embedded applications.  But even then EPICS core is going to have a pretty large memory footprint.

There is a port of an old version of LWIP. It might be of use in getting a new
version running. The person who did this port didn't make their code available
until LWIP had moved forward and they didn't have interest in getting their
work merged.  It is critical when porting something to RTEMS to get the
work pushed upstream.
