Dear Qingru,
Thank you for the update. It's interesting that a managed switch seems to have fixed the problem.
I hope the RIO is still functioning ok now?
What model, and firmware RIO do you have?
Best wishes,
Mark.

Thanks for your suggestion!
I checked the linux with “route –n” command, and the IP address of the galil was in it.
I changed the unmanaged switch with a managed switch, and the galil softIOC ran a long time without any errors.

Hi Qingru,
I would guess that the multi-cast route is missing, which is required for the Galil driver you're using. We add the following line into /etc/rc.local route add -net 224.0.0.0 netmask 240.0.0.0 dev eth0 The error simply says it could not poll the first 8 digital inputs with Galil TI (Tell input) command. Also there is a newer Galil driver designed to replace the one your using located here: http://motorapp.github.io/Galil-3-0/ Best wishes, Mark Dr. Mark Clift
