Under what conditions do you want to store the data to hard disk? One common situation is where one is doing a “scan”, moving a positioner like a motor and reading a detector.
One wants to save the data for the scan to disk. The synApps “sscan” module has good tools for doing this. The “sscan” record executes the scan, and the “saveData” utility saves the scan data to disk. It can save the
positioner and detector data, as well as any number of other EPICS PV (metadata). There are utilities in Python and IDL to read and display the resulting scan files, and to convert them from XDR binary format to ASCII. Mark From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]
