Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
My reading of the "headless" mode is that it is intended for applications where no GUI is used at all, e.g. running on a cluster. Running with no GUI for areaDetector would not be very useful.
But even without headless mode one can run macros and scripts when ImageJ starts by passing them on the command line.

I'm quite sure you can thus automatically open the viewer. I'm not sure how you effectively press Start but I think it can be done.

Subject: Macro for ImageJ running in headless mode for the AreaDetector plugin?
Hi All,
It seems that it's possible to run ImageJ in headless mode and to script things using its macro language (https://imagej.net/Headless)... Is there a way to do this for the AreaDetector plugin so as to automate the lunching of the viewer plugin and clicking of the "start" button?
David
