Dirk,
Do you find out which release included Michael's fix?  I'm using 3.14.12.5 on CentOS_6 and have been having an occasional client-side crash - which I don't recall was an FD issue.  This (sometimes) happens for me when an sbRIO FPGA  system running National Instruments (LabVIEW RT) CA Server is powered down.

 It seems Michael Davidsaver has fixed it about a year ago. (Thanks Michael!). Time to upgrade :-)
