Hi Simon,

There is no Application Developers’ Guide for the EPICS releases after 3.16.2. We have been moving the documentation that was there into other places which are easier for the Core Developers to maintain, although that process isn’t complete yet (volunteers
welcome, see below!).
Much of the text from the earlier chapters can be found in the Guides area on https://docs.epics-controls.org/ as updated by Timo. The later chapters which described specific APIs are being converted
into Doxygen annotations to the code and most of the libCom APIs have been annotated, but not the database APIs. As a result I haven’t been publishing the Doxygen output, but it can be found for EPICS 7.0.6 at https://epics.anl.gov/base/R7-0/6-docs/doxygen/ (this
was generated on a Mac, so in the File List it has headers under compiler/clang and os/Darwin which may be different to the Linux or other OS-specific equivalent files).
Offers to help continue the Doxygenation and to improve the usefulness of the results will be most welcome and can be done in your own time and at your own pace – please email me for instructions on getting started, and create a separate pull-request on
GitHub for each new header file that you annotate.
HTH,
- Andrew
