Hi Mark, Cobb, I also found the ADPSL module. But from
this ~7 year old tech-talk I understood that the ADAravis module is more feasible for cameras from PS. @Mark: on this Web site: https://photonicscience.com/oem/ under Camera Design Capabilities there is the point “Genicam compliant interface, Camera Link interface”.
This is why I assume that by now they are offering the Genicam interface. But of course this has to be discussed with PS prior to any purchase. However, in any case (with Genicam or PSLViewer) I think the camera will not work plug-and-play with EPICS, at least not with every feature. If we decide to test one, I will let you
know by asking questions about ADAravis/ADPSL 😉 Thanks! Michael

Hi Michael, I have tested a Photonic Science Genicam compliant camera a long time ago. It worked after a fashion but had some quirks that I can't remember off the top of my head. I think it used the Pleora
GigE Vision Embedded Interface. If they are using this, it should work with ADAravis, but the features will need testing to make sure they have been implemented properly. We also had another camera that used the PSLViewer that Mark describes. It did not work well. Thanks, Tom From: Tech-talk <tech-talk-bounces at aps.anl.gov> on behalf of Mark Rivers via Tech-talk <tech-talk at aps.anl.gov> Hi Michael, areaDetector does have a driver for Photonic Science cameras: https://github.com/areaDetector/ADPSL This is from the documentation:
The only description I could find on their Web site about software is this single sentence:
This leads me to think that they still do not provide an SDK for controlling their cameras, and still just use a socket interface to their standalone GUI program. I don't see anything to indicate
that the cameras have a GenICam interface. I had issues in the past where they changed the API of their socket server, requiring non-backwards compatible changes to the ADPSL driver. Mark From: Tech-talk <tech-talk-bounces at aps.anl.gov> on behalf of Sintschuk, Michael via Tech-talk <tech-talk at aps.anl.gov> Hi all, is anyone using a recent
FDS Detector from Photonic Science with EPICS? Assumed that the vendor can deliver this camera
with a Genicam interface, the ADAravis module could probably handle it. But prior to the purchase of this camera, I would like to know if someone has any experience with it. Best regards, Michael Michael Sintschuk
