This is deeply sad to hear. My heart goes out to his family, friends and the community.

Marty's kind and helpful spirit and enthusiasm was indeed infectious and this is reflected in the EPICS community. 

Gemini is indescribably grateful for Marty and those he inspired.

I am also sad to hear of Marty's passing. I remember him beginning from the EPICS collaboration meetings in the 1990s. He was instrumental in helping the original GTACS transform into the modern EPICS.  

While it has been at least 15 years since I've last seen him I have many memories of him and his work.
