My guess:
Your waveform record can only contain one string of chars of max length 512.
The waveform record will get the message before the first line terminator,
then immediately get the message between first and second line terminators.
So you would feel that the message before the first line terminator is dropped.

That does sound counterintuitive. IMHO it would only happen if the line terminator doesn't terminate the line.
ExtraInput = Ignore
is not doing what you would expect?
Which part of the input message do you want to ignore with that setting?
