Hi Eddy,
Thanks for sharing the GitHub link which helped me refresh my memory about the shutter driver VCM-D1.
I found Mark’s database file (.db) and looked through it. His approach is a little bit different: instead of using StreamDevice protocol, Mark (or his colleague) put all simple commands (@, A, B, etc.) in asyn.AOUT to be sent out.
As for the readback value on the current shutter status, I do not see its associated command available in the manual: there seems to be only 8 commands and all those 8 commands are available in the GitHub’s VCMD1.proto.
Cheers,
Yong

Subject: AW: Uniblitz VCM-D1 shutter driver
Hey,
thanks! At some point I found this random repository:
https://github.com/PeiyuQuan/EPICS-VCM_D1-shutter-driver
And the proto file their was all I needed (although there seems to be a bug in the proto file) and I am able to open and close the shutter.
Unfortunately there does not seem to be a readback value on the current shutter status…
If you can find anyone and figure out if that is possible, that would be great!
Cheers
eddy

Hello Eddy,
I remember I received an Asyn (or StreamDevice) file from Mark quite a few years ago. But I forget which beamline at NSLS-2 was using that shutter. I will ask around and find the file.
Cheers,
Yong
I stumbled upon this message on the EPICS tech talk archive:
As I would like to integrate the VCM-D1 shutter, can you point me to someone who has a working device support?
