Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
Okay, I think I finally begin to understand why things are as they are.
My refactor proposals were ill-informed and won't work. The meta data
stored inside a db_field_log are a (much) simplified and stripped down
version of the set of all possible meta data that can accompany a field
value, such as specified via the options parameter given to dbGet. To
get at some of these meta data, calls to record support methods are
required. This means we always need a full dbAddr, even if the
db_field_log type is not dbfl_type_rec.
Cheers
Ben
