Re: EPICS 3.12.2 port to the Heurikon Baja 4700 board.
I am running EPICS 3.12.2 on the Baja47 with VME ai/ao device support.
For these tests, I used ai records with the Xycom 566
ADC devSup (in single ended mode), and the ICS 110 16bit ADC devSup.
For ao records, I used the VMIC 4100 DAC devSup.
The same database was ran under EPICS 3.12.2 on
a Baja 4700 and a standard mv162 (no floating point). Record timing
was achieved using the dbt EPICS utility (and verified using VMETRO).
Record Test Baja (uS) mv162 (uS)
----------- --------- ----------
Xy566 Ai devSup 8.7 183.0
Xy4100 Ao devSup 4.6 169.9
Ics Ai devSup 8.0 177.0
The Baja uses the cypress VIC64 VME chip. This was tested against
the mv162 Motorola VMECHIP2 in the following test (part of the ICS 110 drvSup).
Timing was done using VMETRO VME bus analyser.
VME Test Baja (uS) mv162 (uS)
-------- --------- ----------
Time to read 32 long
words over VME bus. 16.25 59.37
In general, the Baja is about 20-30 times faster for record processing,
and 4 times faster for VME data transfer.
