Hi,
in JYU in our IGISOL research facility we are testing Griffin PowerMate (http://store.griffintechnology.com/powermate) in Windows environment. PowerMate is a quite cheap and low effort commercial knob solution, and it's extremely easy to bring into play e.g. with LabVIEW since it can be set up to send keyboard commands/events. The cons are at least that with PowerMate you don't have the feeling of turning speed because it doesn't make any clicks or similar when turned. Other side of the coin, though, is that from the PowerMate driver you can adjust the sensitivity of the knob individually for every program that is set to receive the commands from the knob. More user experience will be gathered in the future. Cheers, --

With hardware, you can control several independent knobs concurrently Indeed, when you drive a car, you interface with the wheel, accelerator, stick shift, brakes, iphone, and wife quickly after minor training. -- E |
