Portability issues to consider while writing EPICS Imakefile and Makefiles

(Lessons learned from moving code to HP)
Lesson 3 :
Do not put extra <tab> characters infront of definitions. The HP make
and even the gnu make take it to mean end of file and proceed to ignore
all remaining text of the Makefile .

e.g. Wrong way:
SRC = abc.c\
def.c
e.g. Correct way:
SRC = abc.c\
def.c
---------------
Leading spaces are ok . But I would not recommend it.
