Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
Hello -
After experiencing our first daylight time change with a production
Epics system, we experimented with the master/slave IOC
synchronization.
Things work fine when the master is up first, but if it is down the
slave IOCs do NOT go to the Unix boot server to get timestamps and
the timestamps are, to say the least, strange. Stephanie's comment is
that a glance at the code shows why the slave IOCs to Unix boot
server stuff doesn't work.
We have no need to tightly synchronize IOCs, and will stay away from
the master/slave setup; this note is just a "heads up" that an
advertised feature seems not to work.
