Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System
The Spear 3 upgrade at SLAC will be a partial port/upgrade to Epics.
They are hoping to retain many of their old applications, but are
willing to steal what they can. We in the controls department have been
asked to help by providing information on what is easy to steal.
The need for "multiknobbing" is very primitive: use files to determine
which devices with which relative coefficients need to be assigned to
one physical knob, and do "CAPUTs" to those devices. Readback seems not
to be an issue.
CDEV may or may not be a good option. If you run such an application,
can you please point me at some documentation?
Thanks.
